self-improvement books

Metta Press L.L.C.

Recommended readings on tai chi

The better you understand and can apply tai chi's principles, the better your tai chi practice should be. A more advanced book on the principles than our upcoming Tai Chi Ch'uan for Curious Learners is T. T. Liang's book, T'ai Chi Ch'uan for Health and Self-Defense. It contains Liang's translations of important tai chi Classics and his commentary on them. Before you read this book, you should be "well versed" in at least one form and have a basic understanding of the principles.

The book t'ai chi ch'uan as a path of wisdom focuses on how tai chi can help us to learn, as the book states, "about ourselves, others, and life itself." Its author, Linda Myoki Lehrhaupt, trained with William C. C. Chen, among others.

T. T. Liang, previously mentioned, was one of America's greatest tai chi ch'uan practitioners and teachers. One of this long-time students, Stuart Alve Olson, wrote an interesting biography of Liang's life, Steal My Art. It not only reveals much about his tai chi background and teaching, it also reveals Liang's human side.

For a limited time, and for a reasonable fee, Metta Press will work with writers who have a self-improvement book or e-booklet inside them to develop their skill at doing self-improvement writing.

If you’re interested in this program, on our contact page outline what self-improvement topic you’d like to write about. (Acceptance into our program does not guarantee that we will offer to publish anything you write.)
